Why does it seem like the Milwaukee Brewers have good luck on Mothers Day?

From Bill Hall’s walkoff homer to Freddy Peralta’s dazzling debut, it was another Mothers Day to remember for the Brew Crew this year. Peralta set a Brewers record with 13 strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings Sunday in Colorado.

The 13 strikeouts were fourth-most in major league debuts, and the most since Washington’s Stephen Strasburg fanned 14 in 2010. Not bad for a rookie who was called up last minute to start in place of Chase Anderson, who got sick over the weekend.

Peralta’s family had never seen him pitch professionally, and traveled to Colorado to see him pitch for the Class AAA Sky Sox on Saturday night. Instead, Peralta was called up to the bigs. (And the rest is history.)

Oh, by the way, Peralta took a no-hitter into the sixth, and only surrendered one single on the day.
